OM JE TSUN-MA PHAG MA DROL MA LA CHAG TSAL LO

Om I pay homage to the venerable noble Tara


1. CHAG TSAL DROL MA NYUR MA PA MO
Homage to Tare, the swift one, the heroic one;


CHEN NI KED CHIG LOG TANG DRA MA

Whose eyes flash in an instant like lightening.


JIGTEN SUM GON CHU KYEY ZHAL GYI

The Lotus face of the protector of the three worlds.


GE SAR CHE WA LE NE JUNG MA

The mother who arose from the open blossom.



2. CHAG TSHAL TON KEI DA WA KUN TU
Homage to her whose face is like an assemblage.


KANG-WA GYA-NI TSEG-PE ZHAL-MA

Of a hundred full autumn moons.



KAR MA TONG THRAG TSHOG PA NAM KYI

Whose [body] blazes with the sparking light.


RAB TU CHE WE'I OD RAB BAR MA

Of thousands of stars gathered together.



3. CHAG TSHAL SER NGO CHU-NEY KYEY KYI
Homage to the mother whose hand is adroned


PADME CHAG NI NAM PAR GYEN MA

With a gold and blue water-born lotus.


JIN PA TSON-DRU KA-THUB ZHI-WA

She whose sphere of activity is generosity; diligence,


ZOD PA SAM TEN CHOD YUL NYID MA

Austerity, pacification, patience and meditative stability.


4. CHAG TSHAL DE ZHIN SHEG PE'I TSUG TOR
Homage to the mother; the crown of the Tathagatas,

THA YE NAM PAR GYAL WA CHOD MA

Who enjoys complete and infinite victory.

MA LU PHAR ROL CHIN PA THOB PE'I

And who is fully relied upon by the sons of the Victors,

GYAL WA'I SE KYI SHIN TU TEN MA

Who accomplish all the paramitas.


5. CHAG TSHAL TUTA-RA HUNG YI-KE
Homage to she who, with the syllables TUTTARA and HUNG,


DOD DANG CHOG DANG NAM KHA GANG MA

Fills space, the directions and the [realm of] desire.


JIG TEN DUN PO ZHAB KYI NEN TE

And stamping the seven worlds with her feet.


LU PA MED PAR GUG PAR NU MA

Is able to summon all without exception.


6. CHAG TSHAL GYA JIN ME LHA TSHANG PA
Homage to her to whom the mighty Indra,


LUNG LHA NA-TSOG WANG CHUK CHOD MA

Agni, Brahama, Vayudeva, and other gods present offerings;


JUNG PO RO LANG TRI ZA NAM DANG

The one before who throngs of rakshasas,

NOD JIN TSHOG KYI DUN NE TOD MA

Zombies, gandarvas and yakshas utter praises.

7. CHAG TSHAL TED CHEY CHA DANG PHET KYI
Homage to her who, with TRE and PHET,

PHA ROL TRUL KHOR RAB TU JOM MA

Completely destroys the plots of adversaries;

YE KUM YON KYANG ZHAB KYI NEN TE

And stamping her foot, with right leg drawn in and left extended,

MEY BAR TRUK PA SHIN TU BAR MA

Blazes brilliantly with the radiant fire [of wisdom]

8. CHAG TSHAL TU RE JIG PA CHEN PO
Homage to the terrifying one, TURE,

DUD KYI PA WO NAM PAR JOM MA

Who completely vanquishes the fiercest maras,

CHU KYE ZHAL NI TRO NYER DEN DZED

And with frowning lotus face,

DRA WO THAM CHED MA LU SOD MA

Eradicates all enemies [the kleshas] without exception.

9. CHAG TSHAL KON CHOK SUM TSHON CHAG GYE
Homage to the one whose finger adorn her hear,

SOR MOI THUK KAR NAM PAR GYEN MA

With the mudra of the three jewels.

MA LU CHOK KYI KHOR LO GYEN PE'I

The mother whose shimmering halo of lights,

RANG GI OD KYI TSHOG NAM TRUK MA

Beautifies the universes in all directions,


10. CHAG TSHAL RAB TU GA WA JID PE'I
Homage to the mother who is resplendent with joy;

WU GYEN OD KYI TRENG WA PEL MA

Whose crest ornament spreads garlands of light.

ZHED PA RAB ZHED TUTTARA YI

And who, with her great laughter and TUTTARA,

DUD DANG JIG TEN WANG DU DZED-MA

Subdues demons and the world.


11. CHAG TSHAL SA ZHI KYONG WE'I TSHOG rNAM
Homage to her who is able to summon,


THAM CHED GUG PAR NU PA NYID MA

All the hosts of guardians of the earth,


THRO NYER YO WE YI GE HUNG GEE

And frowning wrathful and uttering the syllable HUNG,


PHONG PA THAM CHED NAM PAR DROL MA

Completely liberates from all misfortune.


12. CHAG TSHAL DA WE'I DUM BU'I WU GYEN
Homage to the mother who is resplendent with blazing ornaments,

GYEN PA THAM CHED SHIN TU BAR MA

And whose crown is adorned with crescent moon;

RAL PE'I THRO NE OD PAG-MED LEY

From Amitabha above the topknot of her hair,

TAG PAR SHIN TU OD RAB DZED MA

Brilliant light continually radiates.

13. CH'AG TSHAL KAL PA THA ME ME TAR
Homage to her who abides amidst garlands of radiance,

BAR WE THRENG WE WU NA NE MA

Like the fire which blazes at the end of an eon;

YE KYANG YON KUM KUN NE KOR GAY

Who, circling joyfully with right leg extended and left drawn in,

DRA YI PUNG NI NAM PAR JOM MA

Completely defeats host of enemies.

14. CHAG TSHAL SA ZH'I NGO LA CHAG-GI
Homage to her, who strikes the surface of the earth,

THIL GE NUN CHING ZHAB KYI DUNG MA

With the palm of her hand and stamps it with her foot.

THRO NYER CHEN DZED YI KI HUNG KYI

And, frowning wrathfully with the syllable HUNG,

RIM PA DUN PO NAM NI GEM MA

Overcomes the seven levels of the underworld.


15. CHAG TSHAL DE MA GE MA ZHI MA
Homage to the mother who is bliss, virtue and tranquility;


NYA NGEN DE ZHI CHOD YUL NYID MA

The one who embodies the peace of nirvana,

SO-HA OM DANG YANG DAG DEN PE

And overcomes great sins

DIG PA CHEN PO JOM PA NYID MA.


With the purity of SOHA and OM.

16. CHAG TSHAL KUN NE KOR RAB GA WE'I
Homage to the one who is accompanied everywhere by the joyful [Buddhas and
Boddhisattavas];

DRA YI LU NI NAM PAR GEM MA

The mother who completely subdues all enemies;

YI GE CHU PE'I NGAG NI KOD PE

The liberator who arises from the ten syllables,

RIG PA HUNG LE DROL MA NYID MA

And the awareness mantra HUNG.

17. CHAG TSHAL TU RE ZHAB NE DAB PE
Homage to TURE, whose seed syllable is HUNG,

HUNG GI NAM PE'I SA BON NYID MA

Who by stamping her foot,

RI RAB MAN DA RA DANG BIG CHED

Shakes the three worlds, [Including] Mount Sumeru,

JIG TEN SUM NAM YO WA NYID MA

Mandara and Bikjay (name of 3 mountains in South)

18. CHAG TSHAL LHA YI TSHO YI NAM PE
Homage to the mother who holds in her hand a moon

RI TAG TAG CHEN CHAG NA NAM MA

Which bears the mark of a hare in the form of a divine lake,

TA RA NYI JOD PHET KYI YI GEY

She who completely dispels all poisons

DUG NAM MA LU PAR NI SEL MA

By reciting HARA twice and PHET.

19. CHAG TSHAL LHA YI TSHOG NAM GYAL PO
Homage to the one who the king of gods,

LHA DANG MI AM CHI YEE TEN MA

Gods, humans and others honor;

KUN NE KO CHA GA WE'I JID KYI

Who dispels strife and bad dreams everywhere

TSOD DANG MI LAM NGEN PA SEL MA

With the joyful armor of her splendor;

20. CHAG TSHAL NYI MA DA WA GYE PE
Homage to her whose two eyes shine

CHEN NYI PO LA OD RAB SEL MA

With the radiance of the sun and full moon;

HA RA NYI JOD TUTTA RA YI

The mother who clears away the fiercest epidemics,

SHIN TU TRAG PO'I RIM NED SEL MA

With the recitation of TARA twice and TUTTARE.

21. CHAG TSHAL DE NYID SUM NAM KOD PE
Homage to the mother, who has the power to pacify,

ZHI WE THU DANG YANG DAG DEN MA

By bringing about [realization of] three-fold thatness;

DON DANG RO LANG NOD JIN TSHOG NAM

TURE, the sublime one, the supreme one

JOM PA TU RE RAB CHOK NYID MA

Who vanquishes the throngs of döns, zombies and yakshas.

TSA WE'I NGAG KYI TOD PA DI DANG

This is the praise of the root mantra


CHAG TSHAL WA NI NYI SHU TSA CHIG

And the twenty-one-fold homage.

The Ten Syllabi Mantra of Tara

Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha

LHA MO LA GU YANG DAK DEN PAI /LO DEN GANG GI RAB DANG JO PAY
Anyone who has genuine devotion for the deity, and recites this clearly and mindfully at
dawn

SO DANG TO RANG LANG PAR JAY NAY/DREN PAY MI JIK TAM CHAY RAB TER
Upon arising and at dusk, will receive protection from all dangers, complete pacification of
all negativities,

DIK PA TAM CHAY RAB TU SHI WA/NYEN DRO TAM CHAY JOM PA NYI THOB
and freedom from all unfortunate rebirths. They will soon receive empowerment by seventy
millions victors (Buddhas) and,

GYAL WA JAY WA TRAK DUN NAM KYI/NYUR DU WANG NI KUR WAR GYUR
LA
attaining better conditions, will arrive at the ultimate state of Buddhahood.

DI LAY CHAY WA NYI NI THOB CHING/SANG GYE GO PANG TAR THUK DER
DRO
By remembering the deity, deadly poisons will be completely nullified,

DE YI DUK NI DRAK PO CHEN PO/TEN LA NAY PA'M SHEN YANG DRO WA
regardless of whether they abide within the environment or within beings, even when eaten or
drunk.

ZO PA DANG NI TUNG PA NYI KYANG/DREN PAY RAB TU SEL WA NYI THOB
One will throw off the host of sufferings inflicted by döns, epidemics and poisons.

DON DANG RIM DANG DUK GI ZIR WAI/DUK NGAL TSOK NI NAM PAR PANG TE
And this can be accomplished for other sentient beings as well.

SEM CHEN SHEN PA NAM LA YANG NGO/NYI SUM DUN DU NGON PAR JO NA
Through clearly reciting these praises two, three and seven times, those who want a child will
obtain a child;

BU DOD PAY NI BU TOB GYUR SHING/NOR DOD PAY NI NOR NAM NYI TOB
Those desiring wealth will obtain wealth. All wishes will be fulfilled,

DOD PA TAM CHAY TOB PAR GYUR LA/GEK NAM MAY CHING SO SOR JOM
GYUR
and there will be no obstacles, each and every obstacles having been overcome.

Further Benefit of this Puja, prayer of offerings, gathering of merits and dedication prayer for
all sentient beings including self.

confess all sins committed from beginningless time until now, including the ten
unvirtuous actions and the five sins of immediate consequence done with my mind under

SEM NI NYON MONG WANG GYUR PAI/DIK PA TAM CHAY SHAG PAR GYI/NYEN
TO RANG GYAL
the influence of the mental afflictions. I rejoice in the merit of whatever virtue has been

JANG CHUB SEM/SO SO KYE WO LA SOK PAY/DU SUM GE WA CHI SAK PAI/ SO
gathered throughout the three times by Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, Bodhisattavas and
ordinary beings.

NAM LA NI DAK YI RANG/SEM CHEN NAM KI SAM PA DANG/LO YI JE DRAK JI
TA WAR/ CHE
Please turn the wheel of Dharma of the greater, lesser and ordinary vehicles

CHUNG TUN MONG TEK PA YI/CHO KYI KHOR LO KOR DU SOL/KHOR WA JI SI
MA TONG BAR/NYA NGYEN
in harmony with the diverse aptitudes and motivations of sentient beings.

MI DA TUK JE YI/DUK NGAL GYA TSOR JING WA YI/SEM CHEN NAM LA ZIK SU
I bessech you not to pass into nirvana but, until Samsaric world is emptied,

SOL/DAG GI SO NAM CHI SAK PA/TAM CHAY JANG CHUB GYUR GYUR
NAY/RING POR
to look with compassion upon all sentient beings drowning in the ocean of suffering. May
whatever merit I have accumulated become a cause of enlightenment for all beings,

MI TOK DRO WA YI/DREN PA'I PAL DU DAK GYUR CHIK.

and may I become a glorious guide of beings without delay. Dedication of merits thus
accumulated

JE TSUN CHOM DEN MA TUK JE CHEN/DAK DANG TA YE SEM CHEN TAM CHAY
KYI
Venerable compassionate Bhagavati, May I and all limitless sentient beings purify the two
obscurations,

DRIB NYI JANG SHING TSOK NYI NYUR DZOK TE/DZOK PAI SANG GYE TOB
PAR DZE DU SOL
and quickly perfect the two accumulations. Please cause us to attain perfect Buddhahood.

DE MA TOB KYI TSE RAB KUN TU YANG/LHA DANG MI YI DE WAI CHOG TOB
NAY
In all our successive lives until this is attained, may we obtain the supreme joys of gods and
humans.

TAM CHAY KHYEN PA DRUB PAR JAY PA LA/BAR CHAY DON GEK RIM DANG
NAY LA SOK
Please quickly pacify and eliminate everything that is harmful and constitutes an obstacle to
the accomplishment

DU MIN CHI WA GYUR WA NA TSOK DANG/MI LAM NGYEN DANG TSEN MA
NGYEN PA DANG
of omniscience -all döns, hindrances, epidemics, sickness, and so on --as well as all varieties
of untimely death, bad dreams,


JIK PA GYE SOK NYE WAR TSE WA NAM/NYUR DU SHI SHING MAY PAR DZE DU
SOL
bad omens, the eight dangers and so forth. Please cause an abundance of auspiciouness and
good fortune


JIK TEN JIK TEN LAY NI DAY PA YI/TRA SHI DE LEK PHUN SUM TSOK PA rNAM
to increase and flourish in this world and beyond, and my everything which is beneficial be
accomplished


PHEL SHING GYE PAI DON NAM MA LU PA/BAY MAY LHUN GYI DRUB PAR DZE
DU SOL
effortlessly and spontaneously. May we be diligent in our practice.

DRUB LA TSON SHING DAM CHO PHEL WA DANG/TAK TU KHYO DRUB SHAL
CHOG THONG WA DANG
May the genuine Dharma spread. Always doing your practice, may we see your excellent
face.

TONG NYI DON TOK JANG SEM RIM PO CHE/YAR NGO'I DA TAR PHEL SHING
GYE PAR DZO
May we realize the meaning of emptiness. May precious Bodhicitta grow and increase like
the waxing moon.


GYAL WAI KYIL DHOR ZANG SHING GA WA DER/PE MO DAM PA SHIN TU DZE
LAY KYE
In that excellent and joyful mandala of the victors, may I be born from a beautiful pure lotus,


NANG WA TA YE GYAL WAY NGON SUM DU/LUNG TEN PA YANG DAG GI DER
THOB SHOK
and actually receive a direct prophecy from the victor Amitabha! May there be the
auspiciousness of the deity


DAG GI TSE RAB KUN TU DRUB PAI LHA/DU SUM SANG GYE KUN GYI TRIN
LAY MA/
I have practiced in all my lives, the mother who is the activity of all the buddhas of the three
times,


NGO JANG SHAL CHIK CHAG NYI GYUR SHI MA/YUM GYUR UT PAL rNAM PAI
TRA SHI SHOK
the mother holding an utpala flower who is quick and heroic --green, with one face and two
hands.

GYAL YUM DROL MA KHYE KU CHI DRA DANG/KHOR DANG KU TSE'I TSED
DANG SHING KHAM DANG
Mother of the victors, Tara, may we attain a body like yours, a retinue like yours, long life
like yours,


KHYED KYI TSEN CHOK ZANG PO CHI DRA WAR/DE DRA KHO NAR DAG SO
GYUR WAR SHOK
a realm like yours, and excellent supreme characteristics just like yours. I pray that by virtue
of having praised and


KHYO LA TOD CHING SOL WA TAB PAI TU/DAK SOK GANG DU NAY PAI SA
CHOG SU
supplicated you, you will pacify all sickness, döns, poverty, strife

NAY DON UL PHONG TAB TSOD SHI WA DANG/CHO DANG TRA SHI PHEL WAR
DZE DU SOL
and warfare in whatever regions we may abide, and cause Dharma and auspiciousness to
flourish.


CHOM DEN DEY MA CHOD JE PEY/DAG GI GE WA CHI SAK PA
By the merit thus I have accumulated, by worshipping the female Buddha, Tara,


DEY NI JIG TEN MA LU PA/DE WA CHEN TU KYE WAR SHOK
May all sentient beings liberated from the Samsaric world of sufferings, be born in the realm
of Buddha Amitabha,


KU YI KUN PANG TSEN DANG PEY JED DANG/SUNG GI KYON PANG KA LA PIN
KA'I YANG
As symbol, you are devoid of all impurities; your body contains the excellent supreme
characteristics and supreme marks of physical perfection. As symbol of your pure speech,
you have sweet melodious voice of bird, Kalaping-ka.


THUK KYI KYON PANG SHE JA THA DAK ZIK/TA SHI PAL BAR MA YI TA SHI
SHOK/MANGALAM
As symbol of your pure mind that you have abandoning all mental impurities, you see all
phenomena as it is. May your blazing auspiciousness wealth of goodness shower upon all!
